Die of Death survivors are called Civilians. They are not a fixed roster of named heroes; the survivor side uses random two-ability decks, map knowledge, teamwork, and stamina management to survive the Killer.
In Die of Death there is no fixed "Survivor" character roster like in some other asymmetrical horror games. The side that escapes the Killer is called the Civilian side, and every round you play as a fresh Roblox citizen drawn from a random ability-card pool. That means your tools change each match — survival is about adapting, not memorizing one kit.
Civilians win by completing objectives and escaping (or simply outlasting the Killer until the round timer ends). Up to 8 Civilians can be in a single match against 1 Killer.
How the Civilian ability system works
Instead of picking a character, you get a hand of ability cards at the start of a round. The full pool is documented on our All Abilities page. Common survivor tools include mobility cards (to loop and juke the Killer), support cards (heals and shields), and objective cards (speed up escapes).
Mobility
Dash, sprint, and blink-style cards let you loop obstacles and waste the Killer's time. The core of surviving a chase.
Support
Heal and shield cards keep the team alive. Coordinating heals is how Civilians beat modes like Double Trouble.
Objective
Cards that speed up generator/escape progress. Gen-rushing is often the fastest win condition.
Stun / Disrupt
Punch and stun cards create openings — but note some modes (like Gunslinger) disable the stun.
Survivor tips to win more rounds
- Learn to loop. Running the Killer in circles around a single obstacle buys your team objective time.
- Don't clump. Killers like Badware and Double Trouble punish grouped Civilians. Spread out.
- Use headphones. Footstep and ability audio tells you where the Killer is before you see them.
- Communicate. Call out the Killer's last position and who is downed.
- Know when to bail. If the Killer is tunneling you, stop committing to the objective and waste the clock.
